Being British and living abroad I always hear people going
on about our weather. I know it’s not great but Germany this year hasn’t been
any better. It’s been in negative figures most of the year so far, and then,
all of a sudden, it’s rocketed to what feels like 400 degrees. What happened to
that wonderful period between hypothermia and spontaneous combustion?
It really caught me out at last weekend as I was "enjoying” a German
tradition of “Spazierengehen” (a brisk hour or two nature
walk). Furthermore, the standard getup for such an occasion is jeans, again a
mystery to me, and slowly the picture is becoming clear. Within 15 minutes of
wandering up and down hills I felt like Arnold Schwarzenegger at the end of
Terminator 2.
All that aside though, the trek was worth all
the blood and sweat invested as we reached our goal, a beautiful green field
with a humongous public barbeque and a bar serving delicious cold beverages. As
soon as that meat hits the barbeque and your nostrils start buzzing with that
fantastic smell, all your hardships are forgotten. Add to that the fact it was
my first barbeque of the year and all of a sudden it’s a really fantastic
occasion. It’s what I imagine bears feel like feeding for the first time after hibernation.

I think I better stop there, keeping the
positive vibe and let’s get back to the working week, especially as most people
are here to get the latest on Palette CAD 8. It has really been all hands on
deck this month as we get closer to the finish line. Earlier this month we had
our annual international conference where our partners received the latest Beta
versions complete with installation routines. Science aside it basically means
it’s testing time for final tuning. I would therefore also like to take this
opportunity to once again thank all of our international partners for their efforts,
support and input over the two days in Stuttgart as well as continuous contributions

My fingers are also wearing down somewhat as
most of my time is spent with translations, testing and making help menu screenshots.

Fast, intuitive and simple are just some of the terms we are
using to describe our latest version of Palette CAD. More than that, it is a landmark for us here in Stuttgart, as version 8 really is the next level of 3D visualisation,
achieved by what Germans do best, engineering, innovation and efficiency. Soon,
we finally get to share our success internationally, paving the way for a fantastic
future.
To move forward it’s also important to acknowledge the past.
Next month I will focus a little more on my early days in Stuttgart and learning
how to use Palette CAD. With that in
mind I would also like to hear from our users about their early experiences
with Palette CAD, advice for new users and some project pictures would be
